Artist's Statement

Deets holds a degree in Art Education from TCNJ/Trenton State College. She left a short career as an elementary art teacher to become a full time artist/entrepreneur.

Deets earned her way through college doing leather work which she continued until 1988. It overlapped with her pursuit of glass art, which she began in 1976, in the desire to find more permanency and color in her creations.

Deets was the owner of Off the Wall Craft Gallery in Allentown, NJ from 1977 to 2008. There she featured her stained glass work, along with fine craft and jewelry made by many American artists.

In 1980 Deets' work was featured in a NYC gallery show, where she was commissioned to create a series of large panels in the style of Chagall’s Jerusalem Windows. She has also sold work at Artful Deposit Gallery.

With the recent addition of a kiln, Deets is now adding new techniques to her work: fired painted glass and fused glass. Design work is now done with a computer program, allowing proposals to be sent by e-mail.

Deets currently has smaller pieces for sale at Down Home Country and Bloomers N Things in Allentown, and Perennial Homes in Hightstown. Her current primary work is custom commissions.

Deet's glass studio is located in a 100 year old carriage house on S. Main St. in Allentown. Appointments are welcome.
