Artist’s Statement
“Emotions and shapes play a big part in my art. Sometimes
I start out with a general idea and end up with something quite
different than I planned, due to the mood I am in. Texture also
is important, and putting paint on thickly, makes me feel as if
I can taste it. Working with mixed media also satisfies this need”.
About the Artist
Judith Nahmias has studied art at Ohio University,
Arts Student League and most recently with Eli Dimeff of Lawrenceville,
New Jersey. She has participated in juried exhibits of Mercer County
Artists, as well as the Ellarslie Open, in Trenton. In addition
she has exhibited in community art shows at the Peddie School, Mercer
County Library, Roosevelt (Art at the Factory and the Eleanor Gallery),
and in the “One in Eight” art exhibit at St Peter’s
University Hospital of New Brunswick. She has also had three one-woman
shows, and an art review written by Cathy Viksjo in The Trenton
Times.
Currently retired as a Physical Therapist, she enjoys exploring
art, which was her first love. She works mostly in oils, but sometimes
in pastels and mixed media. In recent years she has enjoyed painting
scenery in and around Roosevelt where she has resided for 37 years.
Her style varies between impressionism and realism.
